Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) was introduced in 1995 to extend insurance coverage to the rural population of India. It offers affordable life insurance plans specifically designed for rural residents with simplified procedures and low premium rates. RPLI complements the Department of Posts' commitment to financial inclusion in rural India.

Eligibility
RPLI is available to residents of rural areas aged 19 to 55 years. The minimum sum assured varies by plan, with most plans starting from ₹50,000. Rural residents can easily apply through their nearest post office with basic documentation.
Claims Settlement
RPLI offers quick and hassle-free claims settlement. The nominee or legal heir needs to submit the death certificate and policy documents at the post office where the policy is held. Claims are typically processed within 30 days of submission of complete documents.
